Wedding Policy

1. As soon as the couple has decided that they would like to be married, they should contact the pastor as soon as possible.


2. Except under very unusual circumstances, a marriage will not be performed without at least one-month notice.  Three to six month's notice ispreferable to that arrangements for premarital counseling sessions can be made.


3. Divorce is not normally an obstacle to remarriage in this church.


4. Other pastors may assist in the service but the Pastor of the Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church needs to be involved in the wedding services that are held here in our church.


5. The rehearsal should normally be held in the late afternoon or early evening of the day before the actual wedding date.


6. The choice of music must be made in consultation with the church organist.  Regarding musical selections, the organist's judgment prevails.


7. Photographs are not to be taken during the wedding service.


8. There is a fee schedule for the pastor, organist, and janitorial services.  There are also fees for non-church members (sanctuaryfee, bulletin fee).  You may call the church office to obtain a copy of church fees.


9. The Board of Trustees has voted that no rice or bird seed be thrown on the church property.


10. No alcoholic beverages are allowed within the church building or on church property.  The wedding will be cancelled if there is a problem with alcohol.  There is no smoking on church property as well.


11. All fees are to be paid the night of the wedding rehearsal.
